You want to make sure your home looks its best to show potential buyers the reason you fell in love with the home when you bought it. Bathrooms can be one of the messier rooms in the house, so these crafty cleaning tips will have your bathroom sparkling and show ready.

Do A Quick Clean Up

The first step you want to take when cleaning any room is to do a quick clean up. This will allow you to inventory the items in your bathroom, how much space your bathroom stuff takes up, and how you can organize it (organizing is also going to help you when it comes time to start packing). This quick clean up should consist of putting your hair dryers away from the top of the sink, picking up the makeup brushes from this morning, ect.

If You Don’t Have An Organizational Sysyem, Create One

Some people are naturally organized and everything has a place, other people feel more comfortable in organized chaos. When showing your home, you want to optimize space, especially in the bathrooms as they are usually the smaller rooms in the house. Getting small bins that can slide into closet space or under the sink is an efficient way to organize while making a space look bigger.

Use your Vaacum

Vaacum’s are one of the greatest cleaning tools we have that often goes unnoticed, especially for home owners who don’t have carpet. Bathroom’s are basically our grooming room, which leaves hair all over the place. Using your vaacum to clean out the sinks, dust cabinets, clean shower, and even the brim of the toilet can help prevent the frustration that comes when you are pushing hair around with a papertowel.

Clean Shower Magic

Once you have removed hair and sand from your shower, it is time to make it shine. In a measuring cup, add 1 cup of Dawn Dishsoap and 1 cup of baking soda and mix into a paste. While mixing, place 2 cups of vinagar in the microwave and heat for a minute (this will also make cleaning your microwave easier). Once the vinager has been heated, bring both the bowl of vinegar and the cup with Dawn into the shower or bath, do not mix it on your counters or you will be cleaning up a mess. Once in the shower combine the two mixtures (it will bubble). Once the mixture settles, use a brush to coat the shower or tub with the mixture and let sit for 2 hours. Rinse with warm water and look at the shine.

Clean Toilet Magic

Many people already have their favorite cleaners for their toilets, some prefer bleach for it’s disinfecting agents, other prefer other name brands. You can use the same mixture for the shower for the inside of the toilet for an additional shine.

Clean Sink Magic

Cleaning the sink is going to depend on the material of the sink when it comes to using name brand products. For a more basic clean, use a toothbrush and baking soda and clean in small circles. Let it sit for about 15 minutes before rinsing with water. To make your faucets shine, soak a paper towel in vinegar and drape it over the faucets and let it sit for an hour. Remove papertowel and wipe with a dry cloth and observe the shine.

Grout & Floors

For cleaning grout, make a mixture of baking soda and vinegar, add a touch of lemon juice and a scoop of oxyclean and apply to your grout with a brush. Let the mixture soak for about 30 minutes and mop over the floor with the same solution and let floor dry. Using a towel to dry the floor will pick up additional dirt.

These little tips and tricks will have your bathrooms looking show ready and sparkling. Once your home is looking it’s best, you can call your RE/MAX Masterpiece agent at 772-340-2700 and start scheduling showings of your home.
